I grew up running, but it was never very easy or very fun until I started learning how to listen to my body. Now it is my go-to when I need to relieve stress or let my mind wander. Especially on trails, running has become my time to disconnect from the world and reconnect to the Earth.
I have various experiences in team sports such as baseball and hockey, and individual endeavors such as parkour and Ironman triathlon. I still don’t know what my body and mind are fully capable of, but pushing myself in as many ways as possible helps me get closer to finding out.
I think that the most important things to making fitness ‘stick’ are connecting to people, remembering to have fun, and making it a part of your lifestyle instead of some chore that you do for an hour a day. That is why my favorite activities will always be leading the November Project in Denver, and playing outside with my dog. I firmly believe that if you didn’t get a little dirty, you didn’t do it right
